Popular Post Xoxa Posted April 10 Popular Post Posted April 10 (edited) Hi everyone, I'm trying to complete an offline license reservation on CML 2.9, but I keep getting the error: "Invalid reservation authorization code". I have followed the standard patch steps but I'm stuck. My System Details: Library Path: /var/local/virl2/.local/lib/smart/libsmartunified.so Permissions: 644 (Owner: virl2) File Hash (SHA256): 907df12d38f3dd4077f5b6cf5b600e85e8b9554372fe928fb1acb25ea868a5e2 (downlaoded from " This is the hidden content, please Sign In or Sign Up ") Reservation Request Code: DC-S59870af1253,Ud2314d56-c6bd-732a-867a-a31ee2c79d60-BfLxLppPm-15 What I've tried: Edited my license.txt to include my specific PIID (Ud2314d56...). Applied the "Space Trick" (adding/deleting a space in the text box) before clicking Install. Restarted the virl2.target multiple times. I have attached screenshots of the error and my current licensing status. I am also attaching my license.txt file. Could someone please check if my XML syntax is correct or if my library version is incompatible with this specific build? Thanks in advance P.S: I have fixed the issue, as I grabbed the wrong UDI. The correct UDI is in go to tools, diagnostics, licensing, expand 'Smart Licensing Tech Support info', under 'Platform Provided Mapping Table' This is the hidden content, please Sign In or Sign Up This is the hidden content, please Sign In or Sign Up Edited April 24 by Xoxa 68 10

Prerequisites & Files --------------------- Ensure you have the following files ready before starting: CML OVA: cml2_f_2.9.1-7_amd64-7.ova (https://software.cisco.com/download/home/286193282/type/286326381/release/CML-Free) (account required) Refplat ISO: refplat-20250616-fcs.iso (https://mega.nz/file/bcVl2RxQ#mBQIiK6Z-Qz988hYrN2Ej7hoTlxHSe8CiRiTA0wN3X0), or (https://wdfiles.ru/1uari, This is the hidden content, please Sign In or Sign Up This is the hidden content, please Sign In or Sign Up This is the hidden content, please Sign In or Sign Up Patch File: - libsmartunified.so (https://mega.nz/file/b5xnBQLS#DsDZur3K5-vAKUe1PchDpAo507TQJsoOvKqL5VOX2rM) for 2.10.0 - libsmartunified.so (https://mega.nz/file/y9BknAqY#mT7KOHfSSa08Uyy2c7Op2CxryBNYUfbRju2N2JCBdxE) for 2.9.1 License Template: license.txt (https://mega.nz/file/WlBBiBbb#wy5jmbtxLOmuDZC-yTlxTEI4mnUeajujpS6Ke1cNJKY) Phase 1: Virtual Machine Setup ------------------------------ 1. Import OVA: Open VMware and select Open a Virtual Machine. Locate and select your .ova file. 2. Naming: Choose a name and a storage path for the VM. 3. Hardware Settings: Before powering on, click Edit virtual machine settings: Processors: Enable Virtualize Intel VT-x/EPT or AMD-V/RVI. This is mandatory for nested virtualization. CD/DVD: Select Connect at power on, choose Use ISO image file, and browse to the refplat-xxxxx-fcs.iso. Network Adapter: Set to Host-only. This prevents the VM from communicating with Cisco’s telemetry servers during the initial setup. Phase 2: Initial System Configuration ------------------------------------- 1. Power On: Start the VM and wait a few minutes for the CML setup splash screen. 2. OS Setup: Follow the prompts (Continue/OK) until you reach the System User page. System Credentials: Create a username and password for the underlying Ubuntu OS. 3. Controller Setup: Create a separate username and password for the CML Web UI (the Controller). 4. Networking: Select DHCP (or static if you have a specific Host-only range). 5. Services: On the Optional Services screen, ensure OpenSSH is selected (press the Space bar to check the box). 6. Finalize: Finish the wizard. The VM will eventually display the CML terminal console showing its assigned IP address. Phase 3: Applying the Patch --------------------------- 1. Transfer File: Use an SCP client (like WinSCP) to connect to the CML IP on Port 1122. Destination: Upload libsmartunified.so to /home/sysadmin/. 2. Apply Patch: Use an SSH client (PuTTY/Terminal) or the VM console to move the file to the system directory: sudo cp /home/sysadmin/libsmartunified.so /var/local/virl2/.local/lib/smart/libsmartunified.so 3. Verify: Confirm the file was overwritten correctly by checking the MD5 hash: md5sum /var/local/virl2/.local/lib/smart/libsmartunified.so 4. Reboot: Apply changes by restarting the server: sudo reboot Phase 4: Licensing & Final Activation ------------------------------------- 1. Web Access: Navigate to https://<cml-server-ip> and log in using the Admin/Controller credentials you created in Phase 2. 2. Gather UDI Data: Go to Tools > Diagnostics > Licensing. Expand Smart Licensing Tech Support info. Under Platform Provided Mapping Table, copy the values for S:xxxxxxxxxxx,U:yyyyyyyy-yyyy-yyyy-yyyy-yyyyyyyyyyyy. 3. Edit License File: Open your license.txt locally. Replace the placeholder values in the last line with the S: and U: strings you just copied. Save the file. 4. Register License: Navigate to Tools > Licensing. Set Product Configuration to Enterprise. Click Register > Start Here (next to the "License Reservations" prompt). Select Yes, my smart account is license reservation enabled. Click Generate reservation request code. Crucial: Ignore the generated code and click Cancel. Click Enter reservation authorization code. Upload/paste the contents of your edited license.txt file. 5. Disable Telemetry: To ensure long-term stability, go to Tools > System Administration > Telemetry, disable it, and click Save. Then again, it looks like it should work right out of the box even in the free version... Update: I initially had a Bad Gateway! 502 Error trying to attach an LLM client to CML. Took me a little while to realize that the new service was disabled after being installed by the update. So the easy fix is to type this at the console: This is the hidden content, please Sign In or Sign Up I also added virl2-patty, but I have no idea if it is needed. To add it just: This is the hidden content, please Sign In or Sign Up Or, you can enable them in the System Administration Cockpit page, under Services.
