You are right. VPLS is not working. I have not tried VXLAN, EVPN and SR.

Iptables solution is more complex than needed. "0.0.0.0 xml.cisco.com" in /etc/hosts is enough.

yes they are at this moment

No, they are no longer the latest IOL images. CML 2.9 contains new images. Both L2 and L3 are version 17.16.1a. These here are version 17.12.1.

yes but version 17.16.1a still dont support segment routing and vxlan yet.
