This is what I did:

- Download the latest version (right now 25.4.114.1032+ is the latest and is working fine for me)
- Install it normally as the OP said (no auto discovery) and make sure its working with the free license (login to the dashboard once).
- Stop PRTG with "Get-Service PRTG* | Stop-Service"
- Copy the contents of crack folder where prtg was installed (it is "C:\Program Files (x86)\PRTG Network Monitor" by default)
- Run keygen, patch hosts file, load license (if isn't automatically loaded) and adjust the license as you like and finally click "Save License" (i changed the license name, set it to "Site License", "XL5" and expiration + maintenance around year 2100)
- Then just start prtg again with "Get-Service PRTG* | Start-Service"

In short, install prtg as the guide says, make sure "Setup > License Information" shows the free trial license and you can actually see the system id, then continue the guide.

Tried with latest 26.1.118 - doesn't work.

I'll try with old versions, to see which works (latest possible)

26.1.116.1532  -  Doesn't work:  "No implementation registered for type ICoreTreeUpdateLicense"

26.1.116.1498  -  Doesn't work:  "No implementation registered for type ICoreTreeUpdateLicense"

25.4.114.1032  -  WORK

25.4.112.1189  -  WORK

25.3.110.1313  -  WORK

25.2.108.1358  -  Maybe all olds versions works with this method... Just use 25.4.114!!!

As of today, April 18, 2026, this activation method still works well with PRTG Network Monitor version 25.4.114.1032 x64.
 

Please temporarily stop all PRTG services. Then copy the crack file from the crack folder to the PRTG directory at C:\Program Files (x86)\PRTG Network Monitor.

Next, run the keygen -> patch hosts. Select XL5. Choose the expiration year to 2099.
Then save the license.
Restart the PRTG service, access the GUI, and enjoy.

* Note: Crack not working on PRTG version 26 !!!
