savy
Hi Guys, I have recently joined a Telecom company and they provide broadband services. Looking for someone who has experience on configuring Juniper BNG. We do see some issue regarding assigning static ip address from Radius server. Juniper BNG itself are providing DG and DNS. Would like someone who can help me troubleshooting it. i can provide limited config network 100.100.140.0/24 dhcp-attributes maximum-lease-time 360 dhcp-attributes name-server 1.1.1.1 dhcp-attributes name-server 1.0.0.1 dhcp-attributes router 100.100.140.3

savy
@doxi do you think we should have network 100.100.140.0/24 configured because ip address should be assigned from Radius and configuring network command we are also making BNG as local DHCP server. Purpose of BNG is to provide attribut only like DF and DNS.
doxi
Mixing both static(radius explicit configuration) and DHCP(router subscriber pool) on the same subscriber instance(same range) is not really a good idea. You could fudge it from the radius side and point a static subscriber to a static lns but it will cause funny issues like automated subscriber administration. Assuming you also got lns setup. I would separate them two from the onset.
savy
I am also thinking the same, may be this config causing conflict and assinging random ip addresses but I am not sure. If I remove only network command I assume it will BNG will only provide dhcp attribute ?

doxi
Have you actually tried that on a testbed and it worked? Not getting involved in that mate, sorry.. 🙂 Framed-IP-Address is on accounting request. DHCP would be on access request. By the time that accounting request is propagated, the subscriber will already have been given a DHCP address.

Not really worth the pain for standard subscriber termination.
